Hey Darlin’-The Bedroom Tracks (DEMO)
Written by: Melissa Endean
An accomplished performer as well as songwriter, Melissa's music is reminiscent of Patty Griffin, Neil Young and Johnny Cash thanks largely in part to her early classical Bluegrass training at the hands of her grandfather, an accomplished musician in his own right who performed alongside country music greats such as Johnny Cash and Hank Snow. Melissa voice is immediately recognizable, with a distinctive, willowy vocal style that carries enormous range and power, with frequent comparisons to Dolly Parton and Patty Griffin.
To date, Melissa has achieved notable success in the music industry, and has worked with many prominent names in the industry, including Jason Wilbur (John Prine) and Grammy award winning producer, Chuck Turner (June Carter Cash-Wildwood Flower), with whom she recorded remakes of Johnny Cash hits at the world famous Cash Cabin Studios in Nashville, TN.
In 2013, Melissa was selected as one of the Top 20 Artists for the prestigious Peak Performance Project, where she worked alongside many of BC's most acclaimed artists.
Melissa's musical tastes are eclectic and reflect her prolific songwriting talents. To date she has released 2 full length albums, including the indie-jazz album, "Authentic", which topped Eastern Canadian music charts in 2009. In 2014, Melissa further honed her songwriting skills by writing and releasing the 6-track EP, "Enlightened" under the stage name of Elah, which was co-written and produced by Alex Aligizakis (Nickleback, R.E.M), Leon Feldman (Glass Kites), Sikander Hayes and acclaimed Juno award nominated singer-songwriter and producer Luca Fogale.
In 2016, Melissa let her music career take a backseat in order to focus her energy on a deeply personal journey of healing, reflection, and spiritual growth, as well to adjust to life as a new, young mother.
Early in 2022, Melissa re-entered the music scene with an unrestrained and unapologetic passion that is reflected in a collection of gut-wrenchingly honest and emotionally pure tracks that speak to the potential of modern day folk.
Her new EP, set to be released later this year, will feature a number of these raw, gritty, and deeply vulnerable tracks that highlight the full extent of Melissa's songwriting skills. The highly anticipated EP will include the feature track "God's Gonna Cut You Down", a traditional American Folk song made famous by Johnny Cash, which was recorded live at the world famous Cash Cabin Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
